Advice for the first
date:
We have all been there;
heart
racing, sweaty palms, and the uncertainty. While first dates are rarely
as
comfortable as a movie at home, it is a necessary step to meeting the
perfect
one. Preparing yourself appropriately is the first step to the perfect
first
date.
Dress
Appropriately: Dress according to the environment and
disregard your instinct to “dress to impress”. If your date does
not appreciate you on your first date, no amount of shoes, jewelry, or
gear
will ever convince them otherwise. If you feel the urge to wear “that
outfit”, suggest a location to your date where the outfit would be
appropriate.
Keep it
simple: First dates should never last longer than two hours
in planning. Keeping the date short will allow you to bail if your date
is a
dud. Extending a good date is always welcome, but shortening a bad date
can hurt
someone’s feelings.
Be safe:
Public places are a must for the first date,
you should always plan to meet in a public date and NEVER have a date
pick you
up. Public parks are ok but some can be secluded, indoor events are the
best.
If necessary, stick to the classics, a quick cup of coffee, grab lunch,
or go
bowling.
Prepare
your heart: Too many of us have fell head over heels on the
first date just to not get a call the next day. Your heart is your
biggest
asset, so take care of it. Take it easy, take it slow, and just have
fun. Love
is not easy, and isn’t meant to be.
First
dates are nothing more than a formal introduction. Take this time to get
to
know yourself, find your likes and your dislikes. Never enter into a
date with
expectations. Be prepared to have fun, and walk away if it is not right
for
you.
